Trying out a MotoPower Smart Charger (maintainer, desulfator, float charger…)

By | February 16, 2023

Hello and welcome to a Fixit Shed Quick Fix. I
have a vehicle that's not getting used very often   and I want to keep the battery charged. This
is a battery charger that I've had for a long   time and it has served me pretty well. This is a
somewhat unsophisticated charger. If you keep it   plugged in and charging your batteries; it will
cook and kill them. I went out and I picked up   this smart charger. This is the first time I'm
using this battery charger. I can't comment on   quality or effectiveness yet. A charging battery
can release hydrogen which can explode if exposed   to a spark. Before plugging in the charger, I will
connect the red clip to the positive terminal on   the battery. I will connect the black clip to a
ground point on the chassis away from the battery.   When you plug in the charger, the LED is
going to turn red to show that it's charging.   A blinking red light means that it's not properly
hooked up.

A flashing green light means that   it's in the absorption phase and it's almost
done charging. A solid green light means that   it is now fully charged. Thank you for watching
this Fixit Shed Quick Fix. Please subscribe.   I put out long-form content
every Wednesday. Take care..
