Even with the larger 1.25-inch bit, the drill only stalled out towards the end, but switching to the MultiVolt battery allowed it to go through the material with ease.

Downsides to the Black Tools

There are a few downsides to consider when purchasing these black tools. First, you’re going to get a more basic fuel gauge on the battery, meaning it’s not as precise as other models. To see the level of charge, you’ll have to pull the trigger, and the LED lights will show either full charge or below half charge. It would be much more convenient to see the battery level without putting it in the tool and pulling the trigger.

Another downside is that these tools are single speed. However, the variable speed trigger helps make up for this, allowing for greater control. Most people will find this sufficient for their needs.
