QuadLock vs Mous IntraLock REVIEW – Best bike mount 2022!

By | March 2, 2023

If you're a cyclist and you like to mount your phone on bikes, you've probably heard of QuadLock. It's been around for years and gives you this locking mechanism in a case, which then attaches to the mount on the bike. But… there's a new kid on the block, and boy did they come out swinging with this one! This is IntraLock. This is a brand new product from Mous.

Mous is a relatively new player in the phone accessories space, producing very high quality protective cases. Full disclosure, this video is NOT sponsored. But Mous sent me their IntraLock kit to try. We'll cover the installation process, the quality of the mounts and how easy (OR NOT) they are to use… And we'll review the phone cases ourselves. I also have a QuadLock kit here so why not compare these two products? The best way to do this…

Is to go on a bike ride! Hold on… just put my lycra on… I'm just kidding! I'll make it look like I'm going now… But yeah.. I've been. ## Installation But before we go on a bike ride, we need to install the fixings. How easy are they to install and how do they compare? QUADLOCK INSTALLATION With the QuadLock you are going to need this allen key that they ship with the product. They also send some blanks for the different handle diameters. For me, I didn't need a spacer at first, but then decided to use the thinner one to make it a little tighter. With the Mous IntraLock you get this super convenient thumb screw!! If you've used a GoPro, you'll be familiar with this. So much more convenient! You do have the option of adding a screw, which they ship with a tool for a more permanent solution. But I like the ability to loosen it and change the angles, and I'll explain why later! ## Locking mechanism The QuadLock mechanism works by placing the phone at an angle on the mount and rotating it until it is locked.

To remove the phone from the mount, you press this lever here and rotate the phone in the opposite direction. It does take some practice to get used to… Well, quite a bit of practice. Especially in the winter months when you probably wear gloves, I found it very difficult to use them. But eventually… I think you'll be able to do it with one hand.

We'll talk about the case in more detail soon, but the QuadLock case has this bump in the middle where you can attach the mount to. You can see here, it's also slightly elevated. The IntraLock from Mous has these four clips here, two of which move when you push the sides. But ALSO has MAGNETS that help you guide the holder when attaching it to the mount. This is their new EVOLUTION case. And on the Mous case itself, it has these four grooves here, but no additional bump at the casing. And has a magnet that keeps it nice and strong in there. And I'm not just saying that… I put it to the test. I actually fell off the bike, and the thing kept going with my phone still attached. No problem. Embarrassing I know but… It did what it was supposed to do! I'm fine, it was just a little slippery there. As for the quality of the mounts, I have to give it to Mous here, they made it very convenient for you.

A very practical example is when you use something like Strava to track your ride and check your performance. But let's say… you decide to record some footage instead. With the IntraLock, because it requires no tools, you can adjust the angle very easily, just by loosening the mounting with thumb screw. And start recording. It's that simple! I don't know if this was the intention of Mous, but I just intuitively used it that way . And because it's so easy to do, I could change orientation while driving. Probably not the safest thing to do, but it was dead easy. I didn't even try it with the QuadLock because it was so trickier to get it right the first time.

And that would require using an allen key to loosen the mount and change the angle. And… NOBODY'S GOT TIME FOR THAT! In terms of general use then, how easy is it to use? Again, the IntraLock because of the magnetic elements, makes it SUPER easy to use. Even if it's dark or you can't attach it right away, those magnets help you guide the lock to the center and beam, you're done. With the QuadLock, there's this whole twist, push and turn that… eventually you get it, but it's just not as convenient. But maybe I'm biased, maybe I like Mous too much and want it to be easy. To try to eliminate that bias, I gave both products to my son and asked him to try installing them without any instructions.

And here is the result. No more questions, your honor. When it comes to the cases themselves, I feel like they are such an important part of the product. And one that I feel QuadLock really neglected. They focused on getting the locking mechanism on the case. But didn't spend much time making the case more functional. The only good thing about the QuadLock case is that they use this soft fiber material inside. But the buttons are quite sucky, and the protection is almost non-existent! I know I'm comparing it to Mous which is what I consider to be the Gold standard in terms of protection but come on.. This is just such a poorly designed case that it only serves the purpose of securing the phone to the mount . When you get to your destination and you want to use your phone, it's very smooth.

They added a metal ring accessory that you can buy for $15 dollars, but it's not good because then wireless chargers don't work… Yeah, I could go on… Mous did a great job of making this bag making something for you can attach to things, but they went further and actually made the case functional, almost like their normal cases. In fact… .and this may be controversial, but you see these grooves on the side here. It's better than the design on their normal cases! As customers, I think we have all asked for something like this in their normal cases. So that's great, but that's just one aspect. The buttons feel very nice and tactile. Even with gloves on I was able to use it without any problems. Plus the color is great too. Nice and tall fish… You know it's the little details like this that I think make this product such a big win. The back is also nice and textured for that extra grip and inside they have SOOO much protective properties!! AiroShock that we know and love from their normal cases… There's a grippy, rather rubbery back that also feels nice on the back of the phone .

AND MAGSAFE SUPPORT!! This video is already getting too long, so I'll leave it at that, but I think they nailed it with this product . One of the differences in design is the fact that you have these openings on the back versus the QuadLock which has no openings. In my short experience using them so far, neither case has had any debris get in there and even if it did, I feel that this soft material would stop any scratches in either case. The case is also pretty tight on the phone so I think it would be hard for anything to get in there. How much do they cost then? This QuadLock kit here, which is the 13 Pro Max Out Front model, costs $69.90 dollars.

You can add other accessories like a camera/light adapter for $10 or a ring for $15 , but the main bike kit is $69.90 dollars or £50 quid here in the UK. At the time of the survey, the IntraLock product had not yet been launched, but you can safely assume that it would be priced much the same as the QuadLock product. It might already be available for pre-order, I'm not sure. Just check out the link in the description for a sweet 15% OFF!! I mean, that's a decent deal right there!! So in terms of the bike mounts and the case, I think Mous offers a much more convenient product. QuadLock does have the advantage of supporting many Android devices, not just the iPhone – though I'm told Mous will be looking at Android devices soon.

But honestly, that's kind of where the benefits stop for me. The case from Mous is much better, in appearance, in ergonomics, PROTECTION and FUNCTIONALITY. If you're in the market for a new bike mount, it's really hard to argue, Mous certainly offers a better package here. Their customer service is also excellent and I feel I have to mention that because not every brand is like that. I've said it here before, I really appreciate the care and attention you get from Mous. But as Apple says…there is.. ONE MORE THING! This is the IntraLock accessory for camera mounting. More specifically, it has a GoPro mount.

That's genius!! You might have an old GoPro HERO 4 like this one sitting around and many of the mounts you no longer use! Well, Mous just gave them all new life with this product. You can use it on a tripod like this one from GoPro or any tripod that has this GoPro mount. But it is extremely important that you can connect it to things. Not only bikes… But for example… A car mount, a helmet – even though it might look a bit silly – But you never know, the point is, as a creator, the best camera is the one you on you! And the camera on your phone is always on you! With this mount you are a little different and create videos from different angles. and let's be honest, the convenience of it… With the GoPro you can kind of use the software on it to upload or stream, but it's hard… If the footage is already on your phone,… .. You know that TikTok or Instagram roll is a few clicks away from being shared. Yes, you can't beat that! That's why I'm really so excited about this product…

Listen, I'll review it in more detail after using it for a while and I always review cool accessories so please make sure to subscribe so you don't don't miss out on the next one! and I'll see you and your smiling faces on the next one!.
