DeWalt Power Stack 5 Amp Hour Battery: A Comprehensive Test

Choosing the right battery for your tools is crucial to maintaining their optimal performance. To help you make an informed decision, we ran some tests on the DeWalt Power Stack 5 Amp Hour Battery, the XR 5 Amp Hour Battery, and the XR 6 Amp Hour Battery.

Battery Performance Test

To compare the performance of the three batteries, we ran them through a heat gun test, and the results showed that there was not much difference between the XR 5 Amp Hour and the Power Stack 5 Amp Hour batteries. However, we discovered an error in our testing as we did not have our voltmeter hooked up during the test. When we checked the ending voltage, we found out that the Power Stack 5 Amp Hour battery bounced back quickly compared to the XR 5 Amp Hour battery, which had a slow bounce-back rate.

Further battery performance tests showed that the XR 5 Amp Hour battery depletes itself quite quickly and dies at around 11V. Heat Gun Test

The XR 5 Amp Hour battery went on for 17 minutes and 26 seconds during the heat gun test, while the Power Stack 5 Amp Hour battery went on for 16 minutes and 26 seconds. The XR 6 Amp Hour battery went on for 21 minutes. These results indicated that the XR 6 Amp Hour battery has the longest run time.

Circular Saw Test

We are yet to run tests on the DeWalt Power Stack 5 Amp Hour Battery, XR 5 Amp Hour, and XR 6 Amp Hour batteries to determine their optimal performance when using the circular saw. Therefore, we cannot determine which battery is the best choice for power tools.

Half-Battery Performance

We believe that it’s essential to purchase tools based on their half-battery performance since it’s more realistic as to how most people use their tools. Unfortunately, we don’t have sufficient data on this yet. Understanding how quickly performance deteriorates when a battery gets to half of its capacity can help you determine what battery holds up the best throughout its range.
