three two one oh [ __ ] is quadlock really worth the money i don’t know bro what i know is i’m going to buy one [Music] can we buy a cheaper alternative we decided to go to carousel and see what they have lo and behold we found this a quad lock similar bicycle motorcycle headphone mount quick release that looks exactly the same as the quad lock rip off probably but how does it compare to the original color tell you what we’ll buy both put it to the test [Music] today we are going to put both the quad lock similar bicycle motorcycle headphone mount quick release lock today we are going to put both the quad lock similar bicycle motorcycle headphone mount quick release lock and the original quad lock to extreme test so this is the quad lock similar bicycle bro just call it the cheat block okay okay chip lock okay so anyway this is the 12 cheap lock we’re going to call it the cheap lock we’re going to open this up and then see what’s inside the packaging see the packaging is not better okay for 12 so you can see on the box here it says compatible with most phones and then here it says compatible with multiple models all right so i assume they have the stock right there so anyway it comes with all this different uh rubber what you call this rubber [Music] for a different size of handlebars and whatnot okay for different size fellow bars but still a little bit cheap packaging don’t you think uh for 12 it’s okay uh it comes with this adapter right here you see uh yeah you stick this on the back of your phone and then with the double sided tape the double sided tape is a bit thin though hey but this looks really good for the top dollar lock seems it seems quite solid like oh wow it is quite solid according to the pictures it looks exactly the same as the quad lock it seems to work yeah i don’t know if the material is the same though this plastic right plastic so this is all plastic it’s all the mount and all that all plus then comes with the allen key what’s this very crumpled ah top dollar instruction manual is like that so easy to install insert the 3m glue connector into the slot it seems like the real thing yeah anyway i think this looks really good for 12 yeah surprisingly it does let’s take a look at the quad lock this is the original quad lock it’s 94 with the vibration damper this is an accessory it is it does not come together you buy this you buy this and you buy this they are all separate right as you would expect for a premium product packaging is premium right you’ve got gloss you’ve got matte looks a lot better than this one casiola okay so what’s this you get stickers nice stickers instruction manual one two three bro this is what i call a proper instruction manual but it’s all in different languages right and i mean it’s a lot better now you see that you got the fillers and then they tell you what size handlebar hey why not if it’s on and you have the actual product same thing well smaller so you have to fix this so that one comes assembled this one you it requires some assembly it goes on like that yeah it does but it it’s also all plastic oh wow it is an exact copy exactly the same right exactly the same it does fit this is a complete knock off so we’ve opened both the quad lock and the chip lock right which one looks better to you i don’t know but that’s what we’re gonna find out onto the first test well we’re finally here for this test what we have is uh what we have done is we’ve mounted both quad locks and the chip lock onto each side of the handlebar [Music] you need to press this and then what we’re gonna do is i’m gonna drop the handlebar from three stories high and then when the rope extends to a full we should see a sudden stop to the handlebar then that should see how each of the mounts hold up i’m very hopeful that the chip lock will hold up better even better than the quad lock [Music] block should lose what now i’m telling you i’m i’m a bit nervous are you guys ready oh yeah if i screw this up will you blame me i still love you bro okay make me feel a bit better ready i’m letting go in three two one [Music] what they both held out my wallet is safe cheap lock held up quite long as expected held up too [Music] my wallet just got lighter for our second test we’re gonna be testing for vibrations i bet a lot of you don’t know this but most modern phones really really hate vibration continue right phones especially with camera stabilizers really hate vibrations they tend to spoil and you have to send them in for service what is the point of using a phone mount that’s going to ultimately destroy your phone the phone mounts will be mounted on the bike and we will use an app that utilizes the accelerometer of the mobile device to measure the vibrations of the mass typically vibration is measured in three axis sec x and y we will also take a look at how the vibration damper helps reduce vibration through the quad lock as a baseline we’re going to be putting the phone on the fuel tank and then measuring it so this way you’ve got no vibration dampers no nothing let’s have a look looks like we’ve got an average of what 45 meters a second 46 meters a second okay we’re going to reset this test and then we’re going to try the cheap lock and here we go oh it’s definitely a little bit lesser we are at 0.29 now it was at 0.45.46 absorbing a little bit of vibration you have to compare with the hot lockers yeah you will try with the quad lock where it’s difficult why are like shake shakers [Laughter] when the phone was on the tank exactly it’s small it’s now 0.49 5-0 30 seconds right should we try it with the vibration damper yes we’ll try with the vibration damper this is different rtfm bro rtfm for those of you who don’t know what rtfm stands for it’s rita manuel is it [Laughter] yes him oh it seems to help a little bit it was at 0.5 just now it is at 0.35 now it’s quite interesting so we are at 0.36 and holding so for our next little experiment we’re gonna be testing the adhesive on the phone or on the phone case we all know that is the weakest link so we’re gonna test it to destruction and see how well it holds up first up is the original quad lock we’ve got something known as m steel this rope is going to hold a ton without breaking we’ve got a load meter and we’ve got a very very oversized 38 mm branch here we go [Music] oh it wasn’t the sticker that failed oh [ __ ] oh it wasn’t the sticker that failed uh nothing broke though now it looks like this piece bent though already yeah right it was flat now it’s it’s like shall we do it again okay here we go [Music] oh it popped out again 3m 3m good stuff and now we’re going to try cheap chipboard is going to win here we go [Applause] oh that wasn’t much that was not much at all gone gone what about with quad law right it wasn’t a sticker to kill sticker was good it was this that in this case yeah bro no but it still depends on whether would you guys want to use quad locks [Music] so because the last experiment the adhesive completely failed this time we’ve tied the rope on that backing plate that means we’re testing the mount itself let’s see how it goes here we go oh that didn’t sound good this thing’s up so just for kicks we’ve got the original quad lock sticker on that phone paired with the cheap lock just gonna see which one fails first here we go 31 31 kilos not bad not bad [Music] oh my god look at this guys what what the hell the adhesive didn’t give way the mounting didn’t give way the phone gave way but it still stayed on you started yeah no man okay so we have got the results in uh after testing all the mounts the cheap lock and the quad lock and we have some very interesting results right i mean just based off our little experiment really really interesting results right like for the first test uh where we mounted both mounts on the handlebar and then dropped it from three stories high both survive the drop i think equally as good right yeah i mean no damage no no damage no nothing so for the second test we tested the vibration for both mounts that one was also a little bit interesting because the for the cheap lock it has a little bit better vibration damping compared to the quad lock without the vibration number yeah that was a weird one and then when we put on the vibration damper the readings were similar yeah it was similar then we moved on to the third test and in the third test we basically tried to destroy the mounts things got very interesting oh very interesting so what happened was for the cheap lock uh adhesive failed yeah right as you can see for the quad lock the phone actually you know popped up from the box itself i i don’t know it could be by design if you think about it you know because you don’t want the mount to be also very sortedly locked onto the handlebar in case yes you go off the bike and you clip the bike i don’t know if it’s by design good then what happened yeah it was even more interesting we decided to use the cheap lock together with the quad lock adhesive which was a 3m1 yeah a lot quicker a lot more solid and then the phone broke the overall rope yeah after all the tests and after everything that we’ve done right which i mean at the end of the day it’s not just about how it performs right it is about branding it is about brand association right you know you you wouldn’t go buy a louis vuitton because it’s a very good handbag right you buy a louis vuitton because it’s a louis vuitton you carry a louis vuitton that is status to it this might be the same if you ask me i would rather get the quad lock adhesive which costs about 22 dollars together with the cheap lock which is just 12 dollars you know gives you the perfect set up won’t break yeah but you wouldn’t be walking around or sharing auschwitz [Music] anyway these are the test results we are not trying to tell you what you should buy but we hope that this information will help you make a better decision if you enjoyed this episode of to the test as much as we enjoyed making it we really hope you like share and subscribe with that i’m amos and i’m ma see you on the road [Music] you
