Which Vacuum is Worth Your Money? Comparison of Stealth and DeWalt Vacuums

When it comes to purchasing a vacuum, we’re all looking for the best value for our money. With so many choices out there, it’s hard to know which one is worth your investment. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at two popular vacuums – the Stealth brand 5.5 horsepower 5 gallon vacuum, and the DeWalt Stealth Sonic 12 gallon vacuum – to help you make an informed decision.

First, let’s talk about their specs. Both vacuums claim to be 5.5 horsepower, but do they actually live up to that claim? To find out, we hooked them up to a kilowatt to see how many watts they actually use. The Stealth brand used around 1050 watts and dropped to the 900s when the hose was blocked with a hand. On the other hand, the DeWalt Stealth Sonic used around 950 watts and dropped to the 800s under the same conditions.

As we can see, neither of these vacuums are truly 5.5 horsepower. However, what is surprising is that the Stealth brand uses 100 more watts than the DeWalt Stealth Sonic, even though the latter is a 12-gallon wet/dry vac.

The Stealth brand vacuum costs around $80 to $90 on Amazon, whereas the DeWalt Stealth Sonic is priced at $139 at Lowe’s but most likely can be found on sale. However, the build quality of DeWalt Stealth Sonic is better, and it provides twice the suction speed with water than the Stealth vacuum.

Apart from that, both vacuums have some design similarities, such as the legs, drain in the front, and hose that acts very similar when it kinks. The only difference is that the hose on the smaller Stealth brand has a weird end, which is unfortunately unremovable.

Looking at the above factors, it’s clear that the DeWalt Stealth Sonic offers more value for the money. However, it ultimately depends on your budget, needs, and preferences.
